First Impression

The first thing I noticed about Rwanda is how clean it is. I have been to many African countries including Kenya, Uganda, Zambia and Malawi and this is the cleanest country I've seen. I was impressed by how organized the transportation system is and all the motorcyclist and passengers wear helmets. I have never seen such efficient use of personal protective equipment for motorcyclist, not even in the states.

Today we spent most of the time at Nyamirambo Women's Center, which is a place that empowers women to create better lives and a stronger community. They teach women skills to help them live a better life. These women usually come from disadvantaged backgrounds. Nyamirambo Women's Center gives women the chance to change their lives and gain new skills in sewing, basic computer skills, English and gender-based violence. We were able to take a tour of the near by village. Afterwords, we were served a local lunch. The rest of the day was filled with learning the transportation system, a short meeting and grocery shopping.
