One main reason I was interested in doing an internship in Rwanda was because of its history. Ever since I learned about the Rwandan genocide, and how the country was able to move forward from it, I wanted to visit the place. I had the opportunity to go to the Kigali Genocide Memorial and it was heartwarming and eye-opening. I learned not only about the genocide but how Rwanda has come so far from it. One word that the center focuses on is ubumuntu meaning humanity- goodness, generosity and kindness.
